CyraCom International Sponsors Interpretation Scholarships at the
University of Arizona

CyraCom International has announced its support of Tucson interpreters through scholarships at the University of Arizona National Center for Interpretation (NCI). The scholarships will support the participation of several candidates in the NCI’s summer program for medical and legal interpreters through the prestigious Agnese Haury Institute for Interpretation.

This decision continues a collaboration between CyraCom and the University of Arizona that began in 2009. Armando Valles, the Assistant Director of the NCI, said:

The University of Arizona National Center for Interpretation is grateful for CyraCom’s scholarship support for participants in its Agnese Haury legal and medical Interpreter Training Institutes. CyraCom and the National Center for Interpretation share a commitment to providing the highest quality interpreter services so that limited- and non-English speakers throughout the United States can participate fully in all aspects of American life. CyraCom’s scholarship support for the Agnese Haury Institute speaks unequivocally for its commitment to excellence and to our community.

The partnership between CyraCom and the National Center for Interpretation further demonstrates both organizations’ commitment to the development of interpreter quality. Simon Reynolds, CyraCom’s Director of Quality, reported:

Scholarships are for students in the NCI’s seven day Medical Interpreter and three week Legal Interpreter course. CyraCom actively recruits interpreters in many different languages and will offer new interpreter positions over the next year.
